10. Maracana Stadium
Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Capacity: 78,838
Estadio do Maracana Stadium hosted 199,854 guests during
the 1950 World Cup Finals but the capacity was reduced to 82,238
recently. It is currently under renovation for both 2014 World Cup
Finals and 2016 Summer Olympics.
9. Gelora Bung Karno Stadium
Location: Senayan, Indonesia Capacity: 88,083
Gelora Bung Karno Stadium hosted the 1962 Asian Games, 2007
Asian Cup Final and have hosted many events outside Football including
Tony Braxton’s 1997 Secrets Tour.
8. Azadi Stadium
Location: Tehran, Iran Capacity: 90,000
Azadi Stadium is Iran’s National Stadium and was host to
1974 Asian Games and 1976 AFC Asian Cup. The stadium also hosted the
Asian Club Championships in 1999 and 2002. The stadium is set to be
renovated in 2013.
7. Wembley Stadium
Location: London, England Capacity: 90,000
Wembley Stadium was opened in 2007 after the previous
stadium was demolished in 2003. Wembley Stadium is the home of the
England National Football Team and hosted the Football Finals of the
2012 Summer Olympics in London.
6. FNB Stadium
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa Capacity: 94,736
FNB Stadium hosted the 1996 African Cup of Nations and the
2010 World Cup Finals. During the 1994 World Cup qualifiers between
Nigeria and South Africa, Clemens Westerhof, touched the grass and said
FNB is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world.
5. Camp Nou
Location: Barcelona, Spain Capacity: 99,354
Camp Nou, the largest stadium in Europe, is the home of FC
Barcelona. It has hosted numerous games and tournaments including the
1992 Summer Olympics. Camp Nou hosted Michael Jackson’s 1988 Bad World
Tour and other concerts.
4. Bukit Jalil National Stadium
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Capacity: 100,000
Bukit Jalil Stadium was built in 1997 to host the 1998
Commonwealth Games. It is the home of the Malaysian National Football
team. It also hosted the 2001 Southeast Asian Games, 2007 Asian Cup and
few other events.
3. Estadio Azteca
Location: Mexico City, Mexico Capacity: 105,000
Estadio Azteca is the only stadium in the world to have
hosted two World Cup Finals [1970 and 1986 World Cup Finals]. It was the
venue of the famous “Hand of God” and the “Goal of the Century” that
occurred when Diego Maradona’s Argentina defeated England in the 1986
World Cup.

Location: West Bengal, India Capacity: 120,000
Salt lake Stadium, the second largest stadium in the world,
is a multi-purpose stadium that hosts home games of four clubs in
India. It is also the home of the Indian National Football team. It
hosted the 1987 SAF Games and other few games.

Rungrado May Day Stadium is used for football matches and
some athletic games. It is the home of the North Korean National
Football team. Rungrado May Day Stadium is the largest football stadium
in the world by with a capacity of 150,000.
